TRINITY
Poem, a reflection on the book American Prometheus

Great ball of fire, erupting like a centuries-dormant volcano

mercilessly ripping through the oblivious atmosphere

Unbeknownst, a blast that shook the world

Flashes of yellow turned scarlet

turned violet, blue, and green

Plumes of pillage, war means triumph

The creators rejoiced, but it promptly subsided

for they created a monster, one of insurmountable strength

Destroyer of worlds

ingesting all surrounding light

glowing, lingering over the valley like a ghost

Demarcation of a new reality

A silent consciousness protrudes

Man has incited his own destruction
